A UK prison approached Revector by recommendation, following the discovery of an increasing number of contraband cell phones. This was allowing prisoners to continue illegal activities whilst incarcerated. Prison staff were carrying out cell searches to identify the contraband but had no way of monitoring how the phones were getting into the prison or why they appeared to be moving around the prison.
Using Revector’s network of IMSI catchers, officials were able to identify a pattern of behaviour, discovering SIM cards were being smuggled into the prison and a limited number of handsets were being shared. It also gave prison staff the capability to pinpoint the IMSIs down to exact cells and seize illicit mobile phones.
